The H2O-song

The 2025 Global Science Opera is inspired and informed by the UN International Year of Glacier Preservation.

The H2O-song is created by Runa Godø Sæter, 6th graders at Valerøy Primary School and AI. The lyrics are below:

(Verse 1)

I am water, strong and free,

I shape the land, I hold the key.

Once a glacier, tall and bright,

Now I’m rivers, lost in flight.

I carved the valleys, deep and wide,

But now I melt, I cannot hide.

The world is warming, the ice retreats,

I hear the ocean call my beats.

(Chorus)

H₂O, H₂O, I can fly, I can flow!
From the glacier to the sea,
Then I fall as rain, set free!
H₂O, H₂O, I can dance, I can glow!
I am tiny, but I give life,
Without me, the world’s not right!

Verse 2)

I drift with icebergs, lost at sea,

Once so mighty, now set free.

The polar bears, they search for land,

Their frozen home turns into sand.

The planet’s crying, can’t you see?

The earth is fighting for its dignity.

I rise in oceans, I flood the shore,

How much longer? Not much more.

(Chorus – repeat)

(Bridge)

Let’s clean the waters, clear the skies,

Save the ice before it dies.

If we work together, we can find a way,

To keep the glaciers, let them stay.

(Chorus – repeat, big and bold! 🎶)

(Outro)

I am water, strong and free,

But now I whisper – help save me.

The polar bear is waiting too,

Together we know what to do.
